Professor Sergio Sánchez-Migallón, director of high school of Anthropology and Ethics at the University of Navarra, has published for the first time on Spanish three writings by Romano Guardini in which he reflects on the meaning and mission statement of the university.

The first is an unpublished homily delivered in 1949 in the university church of the Ludwig-Maximilian Universität in Munich, where he preached on numerous occasions and in whose crypt his body lies; the second is an lecture that he gave in 1954 in that city; and the third is an unfinished manuscript, dated 1965 and edited posthumously.

"The core of his message consists in recalling that the university institution must tend to the search for truth without submitting to any servility, be it political, mercantile or bureaucratic. From the dramatic experience of Germany in the first half of the 20th century, Guardini warns of the dangers of subordinating truth to other ends and of the consequent need to anchor it in transcendent truth," indicates the Associate Dean of the Ecclesiastical School of Philosophy.

Sergio Sánchez-Migallón holds a PhD in Philosophy and Senior Associate Professor of Ethics. He has published numerous articles on phenomenological moral philosophers, as well as on general ethics, at programs of study .
