On May 24, the School of Canon Law of the University of Navarra celebrated the End of the year ceremony degree program of the nine students belonging to the LVI promotion. The workshop began at 11 a.m. with the celebration of the Holy Mass, followed by the academic ceremony, presided by Antonio Viana, Dean of the School, and José Antonio Fuentes, director of programs of study and sponsor of the graduating class.
At the opening speech , the delegate of the 3rd year of licentiate degree, Rodolfo José López Salazar, dedicated words of thanks "to God, first of all, and to our professors". After his speech, the sponsor of the graduating class spoke, congratulating the new graduates and conveying his best wishes for this new stage as canonists.
Before making submission of diplomas, scholarships and oratories, the Dean of the School addressed them and reminded them of the importance of having well-trained canonists "who are responsible for interpreting and applying the new legislation with wisdom, in the current context of the life of the Church". He also pointed out to them that " School hopes that during these years a mature attitude has been formed in you, inspired by new knowledge, but also by a method that avoids both the rigorism of the literal application of the law and the pastoralism of those who replace the law of the Church with their own will staff. You are cooperators in a common and shared task of service to the dioceses and to the whole Church".
