The International Program in Communication and Fashion inaugurates in the coming days its second workshop: the Fashion Drawing Workshop. This workshop will consist of a weekly session during the month of November. Next Wednesday the 5th will be the first session consisting of a theoretical class in which concepts will be presented and a internship in which they will be applied.

Fashion Drawing is the second workshop launched this year by the Program, after Fashion in Leather, which was inaugurated on the 15th by designer Jesús de Lorenzo. The Drawing Workshop, directed by professor María Villanueva, covers the field of fashion graphic communication.

Last Wednesday, October 15, began the Leather Fashion Workshop , which is being launched this year. In this first session, the fur expert explained the development of fur as we know it today. And he pointed out that the use of fur as a material for work dates back to the XVI century for the inhabitants of North America.

During the Fashion in Fur session given by designer Jesús Lorenzo, from Peletería Groenlandia, the origins and evolution of the fur industry were explained. "With the arrival in Europe, the fur industry evolved into a wealthy source that employs approximately 60,000 workers," said the designer. The designer gave an overview of the main furs available in Europe, including mink and fox. He reconstructed the process from the farms where the animals are born and treated; the organization of the auctions, the most important in Finland and Denmark; and the tanning and treatment of the skins, a process that admits a large dose of creativity with goal to bring fur to the younger public.

This first session dealt with the impact of the fur industry, a part of the fashion industry that is often the most unknown. The next meeting will focus on the process and execution of the collection for Mercedes Benz Madrid Fashion Week, where Greenland has been showing since 2006. In this context, the brand image, the communication of the collection and the relationship with the media will become more relevant. The workshop will be held in classrooms with two theoretical sessions. At the end of March, the session internship will be held, in which the students will go to Jesús Lorenzo's workshop to learn in situ about different types of leather and the treatment that can be given to them, as well as how the sale and after-sales of this subject of products is carried out.
