The University awards doctorate to five scholars in celebration of its 75th anniversary

It will award its highest honor in October 2027 to Geraldina Boni, Arthur C. Brooks, Emmanuel Derieux, Dorothy Jones, and Yuriko Saito

To mark its 75th anniversary, which will be celebrated during the 2027–28 academic year, the University of Navarra has awarded doctorate to five distinguished figures from the academic world: Italian canon law scholar Geraldina Boni; Harvard professor Arthur C. Brooks; Full Professor of Law Emmanuel Derieux; Dorothy Jones of the United States, professor emerita of nursing; and Yuriko Saito of Japan. The submission these honors—the highest distinction awarded by the University—will take place on Friday, October 15, 2027.

Geraldina Boni, an Italian professor of Canon Law ecclesiastical Canon Law at the University of School of Law , is a leading authority both in academic circles and in the public sphere for her legal acumen and her rigorous and effective defense of the rights of the faithful.

Arthur C. Brooks, professor of the Practice of Public Leadership at the Parker Gilbert Montgomery Center at the Harvard Kennedy School and of the Practice of Management at Harvard Business School, has conducted extensive research on the science of happiness, leadership, and social entrepreneurship, and is one of the most influential voices in contemporary discussion .

Prominent figures in the fields of media, nursing, or design

Emmanuel Derieux, Full Professor of Media and Communication Law at the University of Paris 11 Panthéon-Assas, is internationally recognized as one of the leading figures in his field. For many years, Derieux has served Visiting Professor the School of Communication.

Dorothy Jones, professor emerita at the William F. Connell School of Nursing at Boston College and senior nurse scientist at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston, plays a prominent role in the international development of the nursing development and has close ties to the School of Nursing and the Clínica Universidad de Navarra.

Yuriko Saito, a Japanese professor who completed her degree program at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD)—one of the most prestigious reference letter institutions in the field of design—carries out her work professor researcher through a constant interdisciplinary dialogue between philosophy, design, architecture, and creative practices.

Since 1964, the University of Navarra has awarded this distinction to 44 individuals in recognition of their academic and professional achievements. The five new nominees are from the Faculty of Canon Law, the IESE Business School, the School of Communication, the School of Nursing the School of Architecture.
