The Institute of data Science data Artificial Intelligence (DATAI) at the University of Navarra held the graduation ceremony for the seventh class of Master's Degree Big Data Science last Saturday, June 20, at the postgraduate program campus in Madrid.

The ceremony brought together students, family members, professors, and industry professionals to celebrate the conclusion of a historic class. With 97 students—22 of whom are BBVA employees—this has been the largest graduating class since the program’s inception.

The event was presided over by Francisco Javier Planes, director TECNUN – School of Engineering, and was attended by Jesús López Fidalgo, director DATAI and academic co-director of Master's Degree; Stella Salvatierra, deputy director of DATAI and academic co-director of the program; and Montserrat Miranda, professor in Master's Degree patron of the graduating class.

During her remarks, Miranda described the Master's Degree “a well-rounded experience, a truly comprehensive experience,” and noted that the main transformation she experienced during the Master's Degree staff. She emphasized that, in addition to acquiring advanced knowledge in data science, the students had developed flexibility, a capacity for experimentation, critical thinking, and communication skills. The guest of honor concluded by encouraging them to make a commitment: “To go beyond models and put data science data service of people.” In her view, “technology, business innovation are not at odds with this commitment; on the contrary, they can be great allies when guided by a manager vision.”

One of the most moving moments of the ceremony came during the speeches by the class representatives, David Cervantes and Juan López. Speaking on behalf of their classmates, they reflected on the intensity of a program marked by learning, work , and academic challenges. “Today marks the end of a chapter that began more than a year ago, when each of us submitted our application, filled with our personal circumstances, dreams, and hopes,” López recalled. Cervantes highlighted the shared experience throughout the program and the bonds formed among classmates, emphasizing that true learning goes beyond technical skills and continues through the alumni community and the professional challenges that now lie ahead.

López Fidalgo reflected on the meaning of academic symbols and noted that the academic gown represents equality before knowledge, while the traditional cuffs evoke a culture of hard work. In that context, he stated: "Artificial intelligence can enhance our capabilities, but it cannot replace judgment, intellectual depth, creativity, or staff responsibility."

TheMaster's Degree Big Data Science combines solid training statistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data management data an internship program internship on real-world projects and partnership companies. The graduation of this seventh class—the largest to date—reflects the growth and consolidation of a program that trains specialists prepared to tackle the technological, business, and social challenges of the age of artificial intelligence.
