On October 21, at the high school Mayor Goroabe, the opera presentation of the opera Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni. The work, one of the best known and most performed titles of all time, comes to Baluarte on November 8 thanks to the association Gayarre Friends of the Opera of Navarra (AGAO)

The opera will be conducted by José Miguel Pérez-Sierra, one of the most important musical directors of his generation. Pérez-Sierra, accompanied by the French soprano Romana Tiddi and AGAO's General Manager , Eduardo Solano, told the story of Cavalleria Rusticana and encouraged those present to come and see it. According to Pérez-Sierra, it is a perfect work to initiate in the Opera, since it lasts only 1h and 15 minutes, without counting the 15 minutes of the prologue of Pagliacci that will also be represented.

José Miguel Pérez-Sierra addressed the parallelism between the third Godfather movie and Cavalleria Rusticana , which, he said, "is told in a masterful way" by director Francis Ford Coppola. In the play, when Turiddu falls dead, the voice of a Sicilian woman is heard saying "they have killed comrade Turiddu." Coppola's film reaches its climax at the Sicilian Opera House, where Anthony Vito Corleone (Michael Corleone's son) makes his debut playing the role of Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana. Michael Corleone goes to see the play with his wife and daughter Maria. At the end of the show, the family leaves by the stairs of entrance, where Maria is murdered while trying to kill Michael Corleone. It is precisely when Maria dies that a woman is heard to say "they have killed Miss Maria".

After this explanation, Francesca Romana sang a short piece accompanied by Pérez-Sierra on the piano. The ovation from the audience lasted more than a minute. Francesca Romana returned to sing a second time when, during question time, a girl asked her to please do so. She agreed but asked Pérez-Sierra, in Italian, to play a more cheerful piece than the previous one, which provoked a general laughter from the audience.

Another audience member asked Francesca why she chose to sing opera and not, for example, pop music. The soprano affirmed that "opera is the most profound manifestation, it contains everything" and compared it to what tragedy meant to the Greeks. She also confessed that what she feels every time she goes on stage is the same she felt the first time, since it is such a deep and intense feeling that does not pass with age or experience. Pérez-Sierra, who was asked about the importance of music, said that any soul not only deserves to know music, but also that "music improves the soul". The director, who lamented that there are many myths surrounding classical music, also answered questions about the work of conducting an orchestra musically. "The orchestra conducting technique is a technique designed to make people do what you want without realizing it," said José Miguel Pérez Sierra, who, making the audience laugh, added: "I hope that no politician ever knows about it".

Eduardo Solano, General Manager of AGAO, offered the AGAO students to help in the production of the opera, in costumes and make-up or even as extras. high school Mayor to help in the production of the opera, in wardrobe and make-up tasks or even as extras.
