Fresh flowers forever in the Shrine of Our Lady of Fair Love of the campus of the University of Navarra, and to be able to visit it live from anywhere in the world. These were the wishes of a grateful alumnus student who contacted the University and made a financial contribution to make it happen.

The alumni, very devoted to this Virgin since his student days, made a donation to a fund so that, with the returns generated annually, fresh flowers could be financed in the Shrine of Our Lady of Fair Love forever. In addition, the donor conveyed his desire that anyone who wanted to, could connect live from any geographical point. To this end, he promoted the installation of a webcam that broadcasts live via this link.

The University's President , Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, expressed his gratitude for this donation: "I would like to thank you on behalf of the University of Navarra. The installation of the camera comes at a difficult time, but it allows us to turn to the protection of the Virgin of Beautiful Love, who has taken such good care of us at other times. Now that the buildings of the campus are closed, the Shrine of Our Lady of Fair Love has become accessible from all corners of the world."

A gift from the founder to students and professionals at the University

The sculpture of our Lady with Child was a gift from the founder and first Chancellor of the University of Navarra, St. Josemaría Escrivá, who wanted to give this gift to the students, professors and other professionals "so that you will not be afraid of human love, clean and noble, like that of your parents.

The image is the work of the Italian sculptor Emilio Sciancalepore, who commissioned it according to St. Josemaría's wishes: that it be life-size, that it be seated and holding the Child Jesus, and that the Child Jesus be standing on a binder with university books. The Founder also wanted the Child to hold a rose in his left hand, pressed against his chest, and to bless with his right hand.

The Shrine of Our Lady of Fair Love was designed by the architect Heliodoro Dols, professor of the School of Architecture, who was inspired for his design in the humilladeros of Navarra. It was inaugurated on the day of the Immaculate Conception of 1966 with the blessing of the Archbishop of Pamplona.

Other donations from alumni

Every year, the University receives donations from alumni for different projects. In addition to the donation to Shrine of Our Lady of Fair Love, there are other examples such as that of Enrique Alcat (COM'85), who made a heartfelt contribution to his School so that potential excellent students would not stop studying due to lack of economic resources. Since then, every year, a student student studies the Master's Degree in Political and Corporate Communication thanks to a scholarship in his honor.

These and other examples are added to the annual contributions received from more than nine thousand professionals trained in these classrooms. Together they total more than 500,000 euros and are used to promote programs such as Alumni Scholarships and other research and dissemination projects.
