Experts in sports coaching, Education and psychology provide advice to parents
A total of 14 parents participated in the first edition of the Coaching Course for Parents of Young Athletes organized by the Olympic Center programs of study of the University of Navarra.
Throughout the second semester of this academic year 16/17, parents with athletic children have attended five sessions taught by sports professionals such as Estela Loza, professor at School of Education and graduate in Physical Activity Sciences; Ángel Sobrino, professor of Psychology at School of Education and Psychology; or Ana Casares, graduate in Physical Activity Sciences and expert in Sports Coaching, at partnership with the Sports Service.
In the different seminars, parents have been able to learn about some behavioral guidelines, the importance of child psychology, the physical and mental abilities of their children or the figure of the coach and the Sports Club; among others. "I would highlight the importance of the child-parents-coach triangle. The union and support between these three elements is the success in a child for his evaluation and growth in sport", highlights the participant Laura Larios, among the knowledge learned.
Parents have deepened in practical and theoretical aspects of physical activity with the goal to apply them in the training of their children athletes; "My biggest finding has been the importance of the role of parents, which without realizing it, affects the motivation and learning of the child towards sport and that in parallel we teach them the values in their life staff", says Larios.
In addition to the training sessions, the parents have received an diploma in recognition of their participation from the Olympic programs of study Center of the University of Navarra.
