Enrique Sueiro, PhD in Biomedical Communication and until now director of Communication of the research center Applied Medicine (CIMA), will direct from this year the new area of Scientific Communication of the University of Navarra. He is replaced at CIMA by journalist Natalia Horstmann, who already worked at the center.

The project is the continuation of the Scientific Culture Unit (UCC), created in 2007 on the initiative of the School of Sciences, with the financial aid of the School of Communication and thanks to the initial funding of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT). In parallel, other similar UCCs were launched in 53 Spanish universities and centers of research .

Campus interdisciplinary scientific

The new area will promote synergies and organize interdisciplinary activities in three directions: dissemination of scientific knowledge, through reports, news, events and other formulas; teaching, through courses to train researchers in the skills of Public Communication and seminars on science aimed at students and communication professionals, among others; and research in knowledge dissemination science. The first activity of this course will begin in October, with the I seminar on Science Communication: national experts will talk about science on television, communication on astrophysics, biomedicine and health, environmental journalism, etc.

The area of Science Communication of the University of Navarra seeks to add the possibilities of knowledge dissemination offered by its Schools of Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, the technical school of Engineers, the research center in Applied Pharmacobiology (CIFA) and the University School of Nursing, together with the University Clinic and the CIMA, with the partnership of the School of Communication.
