On October 25, the Schools of Philosophy and Letters and Ecclesiastics of Philosophy organized a tribute, in memoriam, to Professor José Luis Fernández Rodríguez, who passed away last September.
The event was presided over by Pablo Sánchez-Ostiz, Vice President of academic staff; Don Santiago Collado, Dean of the School of Ecclesiastics of Philosophy; Julia Pavón and Ana Marta González, dean and professor, respectively, of the School of Philosophy and Letters.
Family, friends and colleagues of Professor Fernández listened to the praise of Professor José Ángel García Cuadrado, who reviewed all the moments he had shared with his former teacher, and reviewed his academic career. With examples, he defined Professor Fernandez as "neat and rigorous, sample of it is in his work", as well as highlighted the discretion that characterized the professor.
Next, Fernando Múgica, Professor Emeritus of the University, highlighted the figure of his former professor of the subject Fundamentos de la Philosophy as a professor "conceptually sober and precise, he was very clear, linear, argumentative and always didactic".
Mª Jesús Soto, professor of the School of Philosophy and Letters, highlighted the contributions of Professor Fernández to the Philosophy Contemporary . She was in charge of presenting the book "La Philosophy de Malebranche y otros escritos", which includes a series of articles and conference papers that complete the programs of study and research of the honoree. He also recalled that for Professor Fernandez "being a university professor was not something transitory or perishable. In this 'being academic' he imprinted a certain character. His teachings and advice were always accurate".
His colleague, Professor Raquel Lázaro, highlighted the respect and admiration that Professor Fernández had for each of the authors he explained, and assured that he was among those teachers who are classified as "clarifiers".
Finally, Pablo Sanchez-Ostiz, Vice President of academic staff, closed the ceremony by highlighting "Her smile and kindness, as well as her availability to assume positions wherever necessary".
