A book illustrated by Concepción Martínez Pasamar, winner of the award Fundación Cuatrogatos 2022

The book "Romances de la Rata Sabia", written by Paloma Díaz-Mas, novelist, researcher and academic of the RAE; and illustrated byConcepción Martínez Pasamar, professor of the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra, has won the "Romances de la Rata Sabia", along with 19 other titles. award Cuatrogatos 2022 Foundationtogether with 19 other titles. In this edition, 1,203 publications of children's and young adult literature from 217 publishers from 19 countries were presented.

This is the third time that Martínez Pasamar, professor at Degree in language and Literature and professional illustrator, has obtained this award, which aims to goal "highlight books with a B literary and plastic quality, of Ibero-American creators, and to contribute to reach the largest issue of homes, libraries and schools". "It is a joy to share award with Paloma Díaz-Mas and the publishing house bookolia, as well as with the great award-winning, finalist and recommended books," said Professor Martínez Pasamar. She also expressed her gratitude to the Cuatrogatos Foundation "for the impressive work for children's and young adult literature at language that so many of us share".

Aimed at children over 7 years of age, "Romances de la Rata Sabia" is a work of narrative poetry that, through the formal characteristics of the traditional romancero, addresses current issues. The illustrations are a nod to the engravings that accompanied the romances in the old sheets and are renewed with the stencil technique and a reduced color palette, with a classic and innovative result .

The book, which will be presented on February 19 at 12:00 noon at Library Services in Navarra, can be purchased at all bookstores and at the following link.

The Cuatrogatos Foundation is a non-profit organization created by writers Sergio Andricaín and Antonio Orlando Rodríguez in Miami (United States), with the goal to work in favor of culture and Education. The other titles awarded in this call for entries can be consulted on its website.

Paloma Díaz-Mas has been professor of Spanish Literature at the University of the Basque Country and professor at the CSIC. Her research has focused mainly on Sephardic literature and orally transmitted Spanish literature, with special attention to the romancero. On these subjects she has published numerous academic articles and several books, among them "Romancero", which has become a book of reference letter in the programs of study on the Hispanic romancero. At the University of Navarra he has given sessions to the students of the School of Philosophy and Letters.

Concepción Martínez Pasamar is a professor of language Spanish at the University of Navarra. With a degree in Philology and History and a PhD in Hispanic Linguistics, in recent years she has combined this work professor with different jobs as an illustrator and writer. She has obtained the prestigious award Fundación Cuatrogatos with her two works as an integral author, for"Cuando mamá llevaba trenzas" (2019) and"Tiempo de otoño" (2021), both published by bookolia.
