"The responsibility of the parents has always been linked to the child born, but with the advances in Neuroscience, we have begun to consider what responsibilities the parents have towards the unborn child". This was explained by researcher of the Institute for Culture and Society of the University of Navarra, Fran Güell in the seminar of February of the group Science, Reason and Faith of the academic center focused on "Parental responsibility and assisted human reproduction".

The expert pointed out that the maturation of the gametes and the development of the early embryo are the most vulnerable stages for the epigenetic constitution of the organism: "Constitution that directly affects the organic development of the child that is about to be born. So habits or actions made by the parents can affect the correct development of the human embryo".

Fran Güell holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Navarra and is also graduate in Biology from the same academic center and in Philosophy from the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca. He has made stays of research at King's College London, Georgetown University and Stanford University. He is researcher contracted to the "group Mind-brain" of Institute for Culture and Society and currently collaborates with a project on human reproduction directed by Dr. Luis Chiva, is researcher Principal of a project on addiction and frustration, and leads a project on assisted human reproduction at partnership with the high school of Bioethics of Nueva Leon (in Mexico).
