The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Navarra, Mr. Ramón Herrando, has named Associate Dean of the School Ecclesiastic of Philosophy Professor José Manuel Giménez Amaya. He replaces Professor Enrique Moros at position who becomes director of research. Santiago Collado, until now director of research, will continue with his teaching and research tasks.   

José Manuel Giménez Amaya is Full Professor of the Ecclesiastical School Philosophy , doctor in Medicine and Surgery and doctor in Philosophy. He has also been Full Professor of Anatomy and Embryology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

Giménez Amaya is a corresponding member of the Royal National Academies of Pharmacy and Medicine and has been Visiting Professor and researcher of the high school Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Universities of Rochester (New York) and California (San Diego) in the United States, and the Universities of Heidelberg (Germany) and Aarhus (Denmark).

Among his most recent works are: Biology and Rationality. The distinctiveness of the human body (2016) and The unity of the person. Anthropological approach from Philosophy and neuroscience (2013), co-authored with Professor José Ángel Lombo; Diagnosis of Alasdair MacIntyre's University. Genesis and development of an anthropological project (2011) and Neuroscience and Neuroethics. Scientific narrative and philosophical reflection (2010), co-author in both publications with Professor Sergio Sánchez-Migallón.

The new Associate Dean has been director from group of research Science, Reason and Faith (CRYF) from 2010 to 2016. In this position he is replaced by Professor Javier Sánchez Cañizares.

Javier Sánchez Cañizares, director of CRYF

Javier Sánchez Cañizares holds a PhD in Physics from the Autonomous University of Madrid and a PhD in Theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome. He has been professor teaching assistant of Theoretical Physics of the condensed subject at the Autonomous University of Madrid and Associate Professor and Deputy Director of department of Moral and Spiritual Theology at the University of Navarra, where he is currently Professor of "Science, Reason and Faith" (CRYF) at the Ecclesiastical School of Philosophy and researcher of project "Mind-brain" of Institute for Culture and Society (ICS).

In addition to scientific articles on physics, Philosophy and theology, he has published the following books: Self-consistent Description of Transport in Quasi-one-dimensional Superconducting Wires (1999); The Revelation of God in Creation. Patristic References to Acts 17:16-34 (2006); Human Morality and Paschal Mystery. The Hope of the Son (2011); Reason and Faith: the Fullness of the Moral Life (2013). He has been secretary of group of research Science, Reason and Faith (CRYF) from 2010 to 2016.
