147 students from 5 countries and 14 universities participate in the Nursing Summer School of Nursing at the University of Navarra.

The event was held in an online format with simulation sessions with internationally renowned universities as a new feature.

The Nursing Summer School - the summer school of the School Nursing Summer School of the University of Navarra that brought dozens of students from all over the world to Pamplona in past courses - has had, despite the pandemic and the online format, almost 150 students enrolled from 14 universities in the USA, Italy, the UK, China and Singapore.

In addition, 17 speakers gave classes and lectures over 5 days, from May 10 to 14. In total, the registered students received more than 15 hours of classes and were able to participate in 3 simulation sessions.

Speakers included experts such as Daniel Naviero and Dominick Osipowicz, nurses and professors at the University of Pennsylvania; Susan Kiroy, director of the Clinical Learning Resource Center at the University of Illinois (Chicago); Susan McLennon, professor at the University of Nevada-School of Nursing; Jeanne Churchill, professor of nursing at Columbia University; Justina Liu, director of the Centre for Gerontological Nursing (The Hong Kong Polytechnic University); and Michela Piredda, professor of nursing at the University of California, Berkeley; Jeanne Churchill, professor of Nursing at Columbia University; Justina Liu, director of the Centre for Gerontological Nursing (The Hong Kong Polytechnic University); or Michela Piredda, professor of the Research Unit Nursing Science at the Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma.

The goal of this summer school is to allow nursing students from all over the world to live a real international educational experience where different approaches to the health systems of different countries and continents are shared, as well as the practice of the profession, so that students can learn and extract from them knowledge and advances for optimal health care.

Virtual" clinical simulation sessions

As a novelty, this edition of the Nursing Summer School has incorporated simulation as a specific topic in the field of healthcare training . Through a team formed by the University of Navarra, the University of Illinois (Chicago) and Nanyang Polytechnic University, three video simulation cases were prepared and then worked on in groups of 12 people, favoring the cultural and academic exchange between students from different countries.
