The University of Navarra launches a new Master's Degree in Chemistry Applied to the research and Industry

The postgraduate program lasts one year and contains four modules on Chemistry and industry, Chemistry advanced, management, safety, communication and practices.

The School of Sciences of the University of Navarra has launched a new Master's Degree in Chemistry Applied to research and Industry strongly oriented to increase the employment opportunities of graduates in Sciences, Pharmacy and Engineering.

The postgraduate program is structured in four modules that go in depth in the areas of Chemistry and industry, Chemistry advanced, management, security and communication, as well as a last part internship. In total, there are 60 ECTS credit to be taken in one year.

Its main goal is to provide a training internship and applied that allows the graduate to get started in the world of research and in the world of business or industry. To this end, two novel modules of Chemistry and Industry and complementary training have been designed.

The first of these will be taught by industry professionals and will cover aspects such as management at research, the development of new products, process quality, intellectual protection or management of waste, among other topics. The second will complement aspects such as communication or business management , which are otherwise only acquired through work experience.

The module of Concepts and Methods of Advanced Chemistry will complete the training received on Chemistry Analytical, Organic, Inorganic and Physical Chemistry . On the other hand, it will also deal with the different tools and techniques used for the study of samples as diverse as cements, animal feed, chemicals, etc.

In conclusion, according to his director, Professor Íñigo Navarro, "the aim is that the future graduate has a greater capacity to adapt to the workplace, once they are familiar with the language and methods of management professional".

A very versatile profession

In the opinion of manager of the program, "the postgraduate program will enrich the already varied range of employment opportunities in areas such as renewable energies, Health & Safety Office, research, agri-food industry, paper mills, in construction, as managers in the Administration or in the forensic Chemistry ".

In addition to Íñigo Navarro, the direction of the Master's Degree will be the responsibility of position of the professor of department of Chemistry and Edaphology Francisco Javier Peñas and Javier Lanas, of group Horpasa.
