Two researchers join the ICS 'Creativity and Cultural Heritage' and 'Emotional culture and identity' projects.

Adriana Gordejuela will analyze films and TV series that narrate significant events in Spain's recent history and Esther Linares will focus on mediation in different contexts.

Adriana Gordejuela and Esther Linares will join the ICS team as researchers in October 2020. Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) team in October 2020. In addition to them, four researchers have joined the center this year: Melike Akkaraca (Turkey), Sergio Clavero, Raúl Bajo and Tijan Bah (Gambia).

Adriana Gordejuela, who made the doctorate in 'Public discourse', has joined the project 'El presente del pasado, los usos públicos de la Historia en la España actual' (''Creativity and Cultural Heritage'), submitted to this year's internal call for papers. 

The student will make a selection of films and TV series that narrate significant events in the recent history of Spain and then analyze different aspects related to the public uses of history through these audiovisual narratives. 

"The analysis will focus especially on the handling and presentation of diverse points of view, the reception by different groups of viewers, the imaginaries, stereotypes and emotional stances promoted by the narratives analyzed, etc.," he explains.

project InMedio

Esther Linares, PhD in programs of study Linguistics from the University of Alicante, will join project InMedio in mid-October for an interdisciplinary study (Linguistic Pragmatics and Sociology) of mediation in different contexts, submitted to this year's internal call. 

The project, framed in 'Emotional culture and identityThe starting point is the need to provide theoretical depth to interdisciplinary reflection on the act of mediation, with conceptual approaches that are also derived from the empirical analysis of real mediation contexts.
