10 researchers from the University of Navarra receive a financial aid from the Government of Navarre
The beneficiaries are Iziar Amaia Ludwig, Karmele Valencia, María Teresa Simón, Patricia López, Goretti Echegaray, Araceli Arellano, Juan Luis López, Luis Javier Arrieta, Miriam Salcedo and José Hermida.
10 researchers from the University of Navarra have received grants from the Regional Government within the three lines proposed, which have benefited a total of 34 people: predoctoral, postdoctoral and grants for the training of contracts.
The first ones promote the realization of thesis and will allow the doctoral students to work for four years (2009-2013), two as scholarship holders and two as contracted. In this category, the beneficiaries were Iziar Amaia Ludwig San-Orrio (Pharmacy), Karmele Valencia Leoz(Biology), María Teresa Simón Yarza (Pharmacy), Patricia López Legarrea (Pharmacy + Human Nutrition and Dietetics), Goretti Echegaray López(Industrial Engineering), Araceli Arellano Torres(Pedagogy) and Juan Luis López Aranguren (Journalism).
As for the 10 postdoctoral grants awarded, the goal consists of improving the qualification of doctors through activities that will be carried out until 2010 for periods of up to 12 months at a research center of excellence. Within this chapter, Luis Javier Arrieta Sevilla (Law) and Miriam Salcedo de Prado (Audiovisual Communication) have received one.
Finally, José Hermida Santos, scientist at research center Applied Medicine of the University of Navarra, has obtained one of the four grants of the Incentive Program for the Incorporation and Intensification of Research Activity (Program 13). This initiative aims to encourage the incorporation of young researchers and to attract or recover Spanish researchers abroad.
