Emotional culture and identity

Constantin Parvulesu He has lectured and responded in the Czech Republic and Switzerland.
- He participated as keynote speaker at the congress Screen Industries in East-Central Europe Conference: The Long 1990s. There he delivered the plenary session 'Specters of Europe in 1990s East-Central European Film'. He also acted as a respondent for Alexandru Matei (Lumina University) in the session 'Denouements of Socialist Television: Romanian Television's Exceptionalism in the 1980s and Its Consequences' (Prague, Czech Republic, 04/11/16).
- In addition, he taught the seminar 'Global Finance and Hollywood' at University of St. Gallen (St. Gallen, Switzerland, 06/11/16).

Rosalía Baena participated in the 40th AEDEAN CONFERENCE, where she presented the work 'Mama PhD. Work and family balance in Academic Narratives'. (Huesca, 09-11/11/16).




Pilar León participated in several activities in Spain and Portugal.
- Attended the V Convention of the Medical Profession organized by the committee General de Colegios Oficiales de Médicos (Madrid, 11-12/11/16).
- He also presented the poster 'Financing, management and Construction of the Spanish Hospital System (1942-2015)' during the XX Symposium of the Spanish Society for the History of Medicine: 'The historical-medical research in Spain, present and future', organized by the Spanish Society for the History of Medicine and University of Granada (Granada, 10-11/11/16).
- On the other hand, he gave the session 'Ética nas Instituições Hospitalares (I and II). Conferência-Colóquio' at the Programa de Alta Direccão de Instituicões de Saúde, addressed to members of boards of directors, service directors, heads of service and similar of Hospital Institutions of the public, private and social service (Porto, Portugal, 14/11/16).

José María Torralba and Sergio Clavero attended the international congress 'Hegel and the Philosophy of Action', held at the Universitat de València (Valencia, 09-11/11/16).

 



Public discourse

Ruth BreezeManuel Casado and Ruth Breeze gave the plenary discussion paper 'Sampling the phraseology of the emotions in Spanish: a cross-linguistic approach from English' at the International Conference on Language and Emotion coordinated by EMO-FUNDETT, UNED. In addition, Ruth Breeze also gave the paper 'People are tired of these nice people' (Madrid, 23-25/11/16).
 

Ramón González Ruiz and Dámaso Alonso carried out several activities in Spain.
- They gave a seminar of postgraduate program with the degree scroll 'Semantics and pragmatics of evidentiality and epistemic modality : the expression of "responsibility" and "commitment" in professional discourses' in the Master's Degree University of language Spanish of Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. (Madrid, 18/11/16).
- They offered the communication entitled 'Orational periphery and evidentiality. In search of criteria for the identification of evidential parenthetical verbs' at the congress 'Enunciation and speech: structure and relations', University of Seville (Seville 28-30/11/16).
- Ramón González Ruiz presented the paper 'Compromiso, modality epistémica y evidencialidad: metalenguaje y semantismo de los modalizadores de opinión' at the International Conference on Language and Emotion (ICLE) at the UNED (Madrid, 23-/11/16).

 

Education of Affectivity and Human Sexuality

Jokin de Irala gave a talk on 'Sexuality and affectivity, free for true love' at the '99th National congress : For my family' (Mexico City, Mexico,12/11/16).




Cristina López del Burgo: delivered a session on Education of affectivity and sexuality at the annual meeting of the IEEF (high school European of Education Family). (Barcelona, 19/11/2016).


 

Carlos Beltramotraveled to Guatemala where he carried out several activities (10-13/11/16).
- In a visit to high school El Roble, he offered two sessions. One for parents on Education and another for teachers, to whom he also presented the Quiero Querer program.
- He gave the discussion paper 'Everything you want to know about safe sex' at the VII Prolife World Congress.
- He also attended as a guest at lecture 'Violence: family and school' at the IV meeting de Maestros link.

Pedro Antonio de la RosaPedro Antonio de la Rosa attended the congress e-health 2016 of the University School of design, Innovation and Technology (ESNE) for networking (Madrid, 3-4/11/16).

Luis Echarte presented two posters together with Denis Larrivee at the International Neuroethics Society Annual Meeting (satellite activity of the 46th Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience): 'Dematerialization and the Infosphere: Ethical Reflections on Performative Neurotransformation in a Virtual World' and 'Design as Technology: Ethical Narratives in the Reappraisal of Applied Neuroscience' (San Diego, USA, 10-11/11/16).

In addition, he attended as speaker invited to the National Bioethics congress 'Corporality and identity: Do I have a body or am I?', organized by the Bioethics Foundation. There he dictated the lecture 'The image as a constitutive element of corporeality'. In this same congress he also presented the poster (Córdoba, 18-19/11/16).

 

Navarra Center for International Development

Joseph Gomes has presented his paper 'The Geography of Linguistic Diversity and the Provision of Public Goods' at the 10th Workshop on Political Economy at the IFO Institute for Economic Research (Dresden, Germany, 25-26/11/16).




Alberto CendoyaAlberto Cendoya attended the INTBAU World Congress, Tomorrow's Cities: Building the Future at the Royal Institute of British Architects (London, UK, 14-15/11/16). He also attended the I Bilbao Cities & Economy Forum (Bilbao, 21-22/11/16).



Héctor Cárcel has presented his work 'A new Currency for the East African Community, support from a Time Series Study' at the Annual Danish Doctoral Workshop (Copenhagen, Denmark, 10-11/11/16).

 

ATLANTES Programme

Carlos Centeno has carried out several activities in Spain and London both at research and Education.
- He participated in the II Edition of the CIES Program (International Course of Experts in Symptom Control), organized by the Center of training and research of the Hospital Centro de Cuidados Laguna. There he gave four lectures: 'Compassion, Is there a better way to start a good symptomatic control?', 'Methadone in neuropathic pain and delirium: still a good friend of the Palliative Care professional?', 'Psychostimulants. Updated review of their clinical use' and 'research with support. What is the Atlantes team up to now?'. In addition, together with Alberto Alonso, he gave the session 'How do we measure dyspnea, with validated scales or with clinical parameters?' and moderated the discussion 'Prevalence of reversible delirium. Are there really many cases?' together with Javier Rocafort (Madrid, 10-12/11/16).
- He gave classes at the Master's Degree in Palliative Care and Supportive Treatment of the Cancer Patient organized at the Autonomous University of Madrid (Madrid, 11/11/16).
- He also participated in the Marie Curie Research Funding Committee meeting 2016. (London, UK, 11/14/16).
- On the other hand, together with Eduardo Garralda y John Rheetraveled to the University of Glasgow to work with the 'End of Life Studies Group' team led by David Clark. There, Carlos Centeno gave the session 'The work of the Atlantes palliative care research project at the University of Navarra' to researchers and students (Glasgow, UK, 15-20/11/16).

María Arantzamendi and Marina Martínez attended the Chair Wecare Workshop 'How to assess and address the Wish to Hasten Death in daily clinical practice' at the International University of Catalonia. There, Marina Martínez gave the sessions 'Communication and management of depression in palliative care' and 'Clinical aspects: what are we facing?'. In addition, both participated in a meeting of research of project "A novel proactive and preventive healthcare intervention on the desire to die to improve quality of life in patients with advanced chronic illness" (Barcelona, 25-26/11/16).

On the other hand, María Arantzamendi attended the congress International Narratives on Health and Disease (Tenerife, 11-12/11/16).

Nunziata Comoretto gave classes on Clinical Bioethics and End of Life Bioethics at the Master's Degree of Bioethics of the Catholic University of Avila (Avila, 11-12 and 18-19/11/16).

 


Religion and Civil Society

Daniel Moulin traveled to Pittsburgh, where he gave the discussion paper 'The identity of the teacher and the role of the teacher in the identity projects of students' at the seminar theological in this city and also participated in the Religious Education Association Annual Meeting with the lecture 'Maintaining hope: the scholarly virtues and paradigm shift' (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. 02-05/11/16).

David Thunder participated in the colloquium Liberty Fund with the session entitled 'The Levellers and the Origins of Anglo-American Constitutionalism' in West Sussex (UK, 03-06/11/16).

 



Statistics Unit

Jesús López Fidalgo presented the discussion paper 'Computational construction of Minimax designs in binary response and heteroscedastic simple linear regression models' at the 9th international Conference of the ERCIM on Computational and Methodological Statistics organized by the University of Seville (Seville, 09-11/11/16).

He also attended the VIII conference of R Users of the University Castilla-La Mancha as one of the plenary speakers with the talk 'Present and future of the design Optimal Experiments. A computational perspective'. (Albacete, 17-18/11/16).
