Three grants from the European Commission for research in Humanities and social sciences at the University of Navarra

The ICS participates in projects funded by the 'Science with and for Society' programs of the H2020 and Erasmus+ call for proposals.

Three grants from the European Commission will help finance research projects in Humanities and social sciences in which the University of Navarra's ICS is participating. Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra. They focus on the interdisciplinary analysis of assisted human reproduction in European countries, depopulation of rural areas and the training of palliative care professionals

The European Commission has awarded the University its first coordinated project on the area of Humanities in its H2020 Call, in the framework of the program 'Science with and for Society' (SwafS) program. Endowed with 1.2 million euros, it is led by the researcher of Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) Francisco Güell.

The study will approach with an interdisciplinary approach the field of assisted human reproduction in various European countries with very different social and legal realities. Through semi-structured interviews, it will collect and analyze the scientific knowledge , expectations and concerns of young people about assisted human reproduction. It will also focus on what information subject clinics offer to society and how it can be improved.

In addition, Erasmus + grants have been awarded to two proposals in which researchers from project 'Public discourse' and the ATLANTES Program will lead modules of work. 

Ruth Breeze and Sarali Gintsburg, from 'Public discourse', are part of project KiNESIS together with the University of Naples La Oriental ( Italy), University College Dublin (Ireland), Maynooth University (Ireland) and the Observatory of the Social Reality of Navarra, of the Regional Government. Its aim is goal to study the phenomenon of depopulation of rural areas in Spain, Italy and Ireland and to share good practices and solutions to revitalize them through young people.

Carlos Centeno, Marina Martínez and Leire Arbea, from the ATLANTES Program and the Service of Palliative Medicine of the Clínica Universidad de Navarrawill participate in a project coordinated by the University of Brasov (Romania) which will focus on the design of training strategies at research aimed at palliative care professionals. The goal is that this knowledge will contribute to improve the daily internship of healthcare professionals and bring benefits from the perspective of the patient and the healthcare systems.

Certification of the I3 Program of the Government of Spain

On the other hand, David Thunder, researcher Ramón y Cajal de 'Religion and Civil Societyhas received from the Spanish Government the certification of the Incentive Program for the Incorporation and Intensification of Research Activity (I3). Thanks to it, the ICS has received a financial aid to consolidate this researcher in the team of high school, where he will continue to focus on the political, institutional and sociological foundations of a society whose members can fully develop through their participation in a wide range of associations.
