The center of the University of Navarra, which researches to find solutions to extreme poverty, has been rated the 54th best think tank.

The Navarra Center for International Development (NCID) of the University of Navarra has been rated for the sixth consecutive year as the best university think tank in Spain and is positioned as issue 54 in the world, according to the 2020 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report prepared by the University of Pennsylvania (USA).
The NCID, which belongs to the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University, is thus positioned as a reference letter center at research of development on the international scene, ranking alongside other think tanks of reference letter institutions such as Harvard University or John Hopkins University. This ranking is a boost for NCID to continue improving work and the impact of research, as well as its international presence, overall contributions and media presence, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) development .
The Global Go To Think Tank Index Report 2020 has analyzed more than 8,000 centers from research and a total of 12,800 journalists, donors and civil society personalities have contributed to its elaboration. The selection criteria included issues such as the quality of staff, academic performance and impact, and institutional relations, among others.
Environment, migration and land policy
In 2020, NCID has developed research on topics such as the effects of ocean acidification on neonatal deaths in countries at development, forced displacements due to the expansion of palm oil cultivation in Colombia and the consequences of blackouts on the arrival of electricity to Kenyan homes, among others. Also, in the field of political science, a study has been published on the effects of the decentralization policy on development and national unity in Kenya.
On the other hand, the center has initiated a line of research on migration with the incorporation of Tijan Bah, specialized in migrations from Africa to northern countries. In addition to all this, the annual update of reports of development of the countries of interest to NCID: Philippines, Guatemala, Kenya and South Africa.
This year, the index also rated research center for development of the University of the Isthmus in Guatemala as one of the world's best new think tanks, a sister institution of NCID that emerged through partnership between the two universities.
