This morning, King Felipe VI presided over the inauguration of the University of Navarra's new campus in Madrid, accompanied by Joan Subirats, Minister of Universities; María Iraburu, president of the academic center; and Franz Heukamp, director general of IESE.

The event was attended by 400 people, including employees, alumni and executives from IESE's sponsor companies, who support the school's role in training leaders who are responsible with people and the environment. The event was also followed via streaming.

The official inauguration in the new auditorium has shown the origins of IESE six decades ago and its values (sustainable, ethical and human leadership), in a digital show in which a drone travels through the city of Madrid until arriving at the new campus, where the monarch has unveiled the commemorative plaque.

At the event, the University of Navarra's president , María Iraburu, thanked King Felipe VI for his presence and shared some thoughts on IESE's mission statement and its contribution to the world. The school's identity, she said, is defined by boldness, learning and impact. "We aspire to leave a positive mark on business and society," said president.

He also stressed that the concern forsocial, economic and environmental impact is a call to companies to consider their sense of mission. "For IESE itself, for the University of Navarra, it is an invitation to remember the importance of approaching our activity with an expanded view, being aware of the connection between knowledge, power - in its noblest sense of transformative capacity - and responsibility," he stressed.

For his part, Franz Heukamp, director general of IESE, said that the new building is an important step for the School's work. "It is an exciting project . We want to increase our work in the training of managers, entrepreneurs and young people who will be the leaders of the future", because "societies that have good companies move forward".

The General director recalled that the formation offered by the School always takes into account the individual, is personalised and open to others, "elements core topic of the Christian vision of the person that permeates our institution. Especially the spirit of service, which we emphasise in our mission as a characteristic of good leadership".

The campus triples its space and will increase activity by 50%.

IESE's new campus in Madrid, which was launched last September, joins the previous one by tripling the surface area to 33,600 square metres and will allow the school to increase its activity in the capital by 50% over the next five years.

Before the ceremony, Felipe VI attended the session 'Leaders for a more sustainable world' given by IESE professor Pascual Berrone and a class of the Executive MBA programme, with young professionals with 10 years of experience, where he experienced the discussion case method in a session on distribution at Amazon. The King also toured the school's new facilities and was photographed with students of the Master in Management, an international programme aimed at recent graduates.
