The Círculo de Orellana and the RedWINNnetwork Ibero-Americannetwork for Innovation and training to Strengthen Women's Impact in Innovation Ecosystems) of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra have signed an agreement to promote activities that make female talent visible and promote women's leadership. The agreement was signed by Leticia Espinosa de los Monteros, founder and president of Círculo de Orellana, and Jaime García del Barrio, director of the ICS. The event was also attended by María Cruz Díaz de Terán, director of the RedWINN; Pablo Pérez López, scientific director of the ICS; Consuelo Crespo and Coro Morales Asúa, from the Circulo de Orellana.

"We are very pleased to establish this alliance, which will facilitate the exchange of knowledge, the creation of spaces for reflection and the generation of opportunities for women in their respective fields," said Díaz de Terán. For her part, Espinosa de los Monteros emphasizes that "this alliance will allow us to work together in a common purpose : to generate female references for our society and for the next generations, since the mission statement of both the Círculo de Orellana and the RedWINN is committed to giving value and visibility to female talent".

Thanks to this partnership, joint activities will be organized to build new bridges. Thus, the experts of the Círculo de Orellana will play a prominent role in the seminars, classes and mentoring programs of the RedWINN. Likewise, intergenerational meetings will be promoted that will make it possible to share professional and life experiences. RedWINN will also contribute its experience in research and development to promote equal opportunities.

"This synergy will allow us to promote high-impact initiatives and contribute to social transformation through Education, research and joint action," said Díaz de Terán. This agreement continues the line of work initiated between the two organizations last year, with the publication of the book Talento Femenino y sociedad civil. Testimonies from the Circulo de Orellana (Eunsa) and the mentoring program promoted as a result of the publication.

Unfinished business

Strengthening ties will also make it possible to address pending challenges in terms of equality and positioning. "Although we have already made great progress in the incorporation of women into the professional sphere, there is still a long way to go. Today we have perhaps the generation with the highest issue of women trained in very diverse fields, but unfortunately there is a very low percentage of women in management and strategic decision-making positions," says the president of the Círculo de Orellana.

In this sense, the director of RedWINN emphasizes that " network is a core topic to break down barriers and open opportunities. By joining forces with institutions that share our vision, we contribute to making more women protagonists in science, technology, culture and innovation. We firmly believe that female talent is the engine of change and this agreement is one more step to make it visible and effective".
