More than 400 people take part in the University Sports Gala
The head of the Medical Services of Atlético de Madrid, José María Villalón, has received the scholarship of honor.
More than 400 people participated in the Sports Gala of the University of Navarra. The event, held this Friday in the Theater of the Museum of the University of Navarra, has made submission of distinctions and awards to students, teachers and most outstanding centers of this course, in the field of sports.
The head of the Medical Services of Atlético de Madrid since 1995, José María Villalón, has received the scholarship of Honor of Sport, in recognition of his sporting career. Ignacio Martín Goenaga, player of the Spanish Rugby Sevens Team and former student of the University of Navarra, received the award of the Center of programs of study Olympic Values in Sports.
The awards for the best university athlete went to two Tecnun students: in the women's category, Irati Mendía García, silver medalist in the European Oceanman Triathlon Championship. In the men's category, the winner was Iñigo Martínez de Albornoz, champion of the Spanish Cup 2015/16 and bronze in the Andorra World Cup in ski mountaineering.
The awards for the Trophy President 2016 have also been presented and the 72 students of the Sports Talent Programwho combine professional sports and university programs of study . In addition, the Caja Navarra Foundation received the recognition for sports promotion.
The gala was hosted by the director of Sports Service, Javier Trigo, and the student of 2nd year of Journalism, Juliana García.
During the event, attendees were able to enjoy the magic tricks of the magician Mario, the exhibition of gymnasts from Club Alaia and several sketches by the Tricicle Theater Company, at position of group theater "Atrezzo".
The event was attended by the Vice President Alumni of the University of Navarra, Tomás Gómez-Acebo; the delegate of the Government, Carmen Alba; and the deputy director of Youth of the Government of Navarra, Adela González. Also present were Carlos Salvador, deputy for Navarra in the congress, Joaquín Gálvez, president of the Superior Court of Justice of Navarra and the presidents of several Navarre Federations, among others.
