Ana María Navarro, professor of the Institute of Sciences of the Education, germ of the current School of Education and Psychology of the University of Navarra, died at 94 years of age. She was married to Full Professor Manuel Ferrer, now deceased, of the School of Philosophy y Letras, with whom she had six children.

Born in Bilbao on July 7, 1929, Ana María Navarro graduated from the University of Zaragoza (1955) with a degree in History ( Philosophy y Letras), and obtained the doctorate in Geography in Madrid (1960). Between 1953 and 1960 she worked in Zaragoza as a teacher teaching assistant of the Geography Chair and teaching assistant interim of the Institute of Education average Goya.

Professor Navarro joined the University of Navarra in 1965 as a scientific collaborator of the Institute of Sciences of the Education (ICE), being a member of its first board of directors board . In 1975 she was appointed director of programs at ICE, position which she held until 1979. Ana María was a member of the academic staff of this Institute and, after its foundation, of the Science section of the Education of the School of Philosophy and Letters (1975) until her retirement in 1999. She taught the subjects of Sociology of the Education and Sociology of the Family.

She was the Spanish delegate of the "International Federation of Parents and Educators" (from 1970 to 1973), an organization consultant of UNESCO and, later, a member of its committee board of directors. She participated in numerous national and international congresses and received the Silver Medal of the University in 1991. Her publications include Decisiones familiares (Palabra, 1992), La realización de los cónyuges (Palabra, 1992), and Feminismo, familia y mujer (EUNSA, 1982).

Professor Aurora Bernal describes her as "passionate about teaching, a visionary in the role of women in the family and in the professional field. She was demanding at teaching as well as kind".

His colleague David Isaacs recalls that Navarro started his activity professor by giving class in the course 'training for teachers of high school diploma'. "She was especially recognized for her programs of study on relationships in the family, as well as a pioneer in using the case method in the activity professor. Always willing to help others, she paid attention to all the people we came to ask her for committee".

"She did a lot for the University of Navarra and for the family institution. She was admired by many people, but the first was her husband, Professor Manuel Ferrer Regales, who expressed this to me on several occasions," adds Gerardo Castillo, a former professor at the University. "She was a very intelligent, endearing, generous, humble and kind woman. It was an honor and a gift to work and live with her," he concludes.

"Professor Ana María Navarro stood out for her closeness to those of us who were her students, disciples and colleagues. She was an example of how to put the work at the service of others to move forward the programs of study of Education. Also with his research work, his vocation was to delve into the study of issues related to the family, and to this he dedicated his degree program, which he later reflected in his teaching. Always without losing a smile and with a permanent attitude of helping others," recalls Concepción Naval, professor and first dean of the School of Education and Psychology.
