Architecture students propose new uses for the Pamplona seminar

The event is part of the international seminar “Building Construction-Cultural Heritage Conservation,” organized in partnership the Archdiocese of Pamplona and Tudela

For the second consecutive year, the Archdiocese of Pamplona and Tudela has participated in the international seminar “Building Construction-Cultural Heritage Conservation” organized by the School of Architecture at the University of Navarra. During the last week of May, senior architecture students worked on proposals for the redevelopment and new uses of the San Miguel seminar building in Pamplona, designed by Navarran architect Victor Eusa (1931), core topic figure core topic 20th-century architecture.

Currently, the seminar Pamplona consists of a 17,000-square-meter complex spread over four floors, where thirty seminarians are trained. To make better use of the building’s space, the students have designed new spaces and functions within the building, such as a conference room , a library, a terrace with cafeteria new access points and connections to the inner courtyard.

The event was led by Joaquín Torres, course coordinator, and featured the partnership Dr. Irene Ruiz Bazán and Dr . Gianluca E.E. Vita, visiting professors from the Politecnico di Milano.

The presentation the students’ proposals took place on May 30 at the seminar, quotation which Torres emphasized that “historic sites must be experienced and must also thrive. Their current use and their future prospects are vital to this.”
