Patricio Fernández Ugarte, researcher of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra, has received a scholarship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, one of the most prestigious grants in the world.
She will join the School of Philosophy, Philosophy of Science and programs of study Religious at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (Germany), together with Professors Christof Rapp and Monika Betzler.
Specifically, he will develop a project of research from Philosophy on the nature of the connection between the ordinary ethical knowledge of moral agents and the philosophical ethical knowledge of moral theorists. It will be framed within his two main areas of work, the contemporary Philosophy internship in the analytic tradition and the ancient Philosophy .
"This project is an important step towards the achievement of the goal that I have set myself in the long term deadline: to contribute to the development of a conception of rationality internship that respects our self-understanding as beings conscious of ourselves, capable of changing the world through our thinking", he says.
Patricio Fernández Ugarte, a native of Chile, holds a PhD in Philosophy and Economics from Harvard University (USA). In the academic year 2016-2017 he joined the project 'Emotional culture and identity' of the ICS. He has previously been an academic at the Universidad de Los Andes (Chile).
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation promotes and supports national and foreign talent to carry out research in Germany in different social, scientific and humanistic disciplines. Every year, it awards some 400 scholarships to non-Germans at research , which are considered the most important in the world alongside the Fulbright and Marie Curie scholarships..
