ISSA School of Applied Management held the first semester Sectorial conference , dedicated to Luxury & Fashion Business. More than 200 students from different Degrees attended the conference to listen to Alicia García de Lomas, High-End Project Coordinator at Cartier; Anna Maria Kwiecinska, Project Analyst at Calvin Kleingroup All We Wear) and Victor Rovira, Internal Production Director at Loewegroup LVMH).
The first session took place on October 27 and featured two former students of the center, Anna Maria Kwiecinska (GAM'24) and Alicia García de Lomas (GAM'19). Anna Maria, a native of Krakow (Poland), shared with the students her first professional steps in the fashion industry, followed by some advice on how to become part of the sector and offered some examples of the projects that Calvin Klein has launched. He also reminded attendees that the first step to getting opportunities in the industry is to "be passionate about the industry and know the brand you want to apply to. Do your research, get to know the designers and differentiate your favorite collections," he told the students.
For her part, Alicia Garcia offered an insider's view of the fine jewelry sector. The former student began her discussion paper by going back 100 years to the origins of Cartier. She went through the hallmarks of the brand: the panther, crocodiles and snakes. She also recommended language training to students, especially in French, a skill that is "essential in the fashion and jewelry industry," where brand strategies are developed and international clients are dealt with on a daily basis, she confessed. In Alicia's words, what differentiates fine jewelry from other sectors is "exclusivity and limited access".
The second session, held on November 3, featured a discussion paper by engineer Victor Rovira, Internal Production Director at Loewegroup LVMHgroup ). Victor is part of the LVMH group since 2021, after four years as Logistics Director , he is now Production Director . The brand encompasses some forty brands of cosmetics, perfumes, fashion, hospitality, champagne and events. His job is to control Loewe's processes, as well as the staff involved in them.
Victor explained to the students that the business is characterized by "artisanal, slow and expensive manufacturing processes". After his experience in the brand, he confessed that the luxury fashion sector is in "constant evolution".
