The University, award for the "best initiative on training" by El Economista

The President Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero highlighted "the crucial role of the Education and research as the main way for Spain to compete".

The University of Navarra has received the award in the category 'best initiative in training' awarded by El Economista. The ninth edition of these awards was attended by more than 400 businessmen and executives from all sectors. Carmen Calvo, Vice-President of the Government, Minister of the Presidency, Relations with Parliament and Equality, who presided over the event, and Reyes Maroto, Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, attended on behalf of the current Executive.

The Night of the Economics 2019 was attended by the seven award winners, as well as the president of publishing house Ecoprensa, Antonio Rodríguez Arce, and the CEO of Caixabank, Gonzalo Gortázar. The event was held at CaixaForum Madrid on the 3rd of this month.

Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, President of the University of Navarra, collected the award , which was presented by Ester Uriol, communications director of El Corte Inglés.

During his thank you speech , the President highlighted the crucial role of Education and research as the main way for Spain to compete. In this sense, Sánchez-Tabernero stressed that a high percentage of science in our country has its origin in universities. He took the opportunity to apply for the support of both the public and private sectors in order to bet on a quality science that attracts talent and is at the service of society.

In a video that was projected on the academic center, it was explained that with its firm commitment to the research, the multidisciplinarity and the humanistic training , the University of Navarra has managed to position itself as the third in Europe in teaching according to the Times Higher Education ranking, behind Oxford and Cambridge, thus cementing its global projection: today more than 25% of the University's students are international.

In her speech, the acting Vice President of the Government, Carmen Calvo, quoted the words of President of the University of Navarra to underline the importance of supporting training and science.
