German expert defends wood's properties as a building material

The engineer Peer Haller gave the I seminar on Wood Construction at the University of Navarra, which was inaugurated by the Councilor Begoña Sanzberro.

"Wood is a material that has very balanced properties for construction". This was stated at the University of Navarra by the German engineer Peer Haller, who gave the I seminar on Wood Construction at the academic center's School of Architecture .

The expert assured that "wood can withstand heavy loads, is a good insulator and can be used as an interior material", to which he added that "it has various usable functionalities".

Peer Haller also commented: "Navarre is a region where wood is not considered a material of great importance for construction, but it is true that young professionals are showing interest in facing new construction challenges around it".

The seminar, organized by the University of Navarra, the Regional Government of Navarra and the association de Empresarios de Madera de Navarra, is attended by around 150 people -70 professionals from the sector and 80 students-.

The meeting was inaugurated by the Councilor of development Rural and Environment, Begoña Sanzberro, in an act in which also intervened the director of the School of Architecture, Mariano González Presencio.
