"The Church in the history of Spain".

Nine professors from the University of Navarra participate in this choral work published by the Rafael del Pino Foundation and Marcial Pons.

Nine professors from the University of Navarra write in "La Iglesia en la historia de España", a choral work, in which more than 70 experts participate, which has been directed by José Antonio Escudero, doctor in Law and member of issue of the Royal Academies of History and Jurisprudence and Legislation, and edited by the Rafael del Pino Foundation and Marcial Pons.

"The Church in the history of Spain" aims "to be a historical compendium" with a preferential attention "to the Church of today embedded in the evolutionary periods of civil society and the State", as pointed out in the prologue by María del Pino, president of the Rafael del Pino Foundation.

Participation of the University of Navarra

On behalf of the University of Navarra, the professors of School of Theology have participated in this work: Fermín Labargawith the chapter: "The Counter-Reformation: Spain in Trent and Trent in Spain"; Marcelo MerinoThe following professors participated in the conference: "Origins of Hispanic Christianity: first martyrs and saints"; Domingo Ramos-Lissón, with two chapters: "The beginnings of evangelization in Spain" and "Bishop Oso de Córdova and the Council of Elvira"; Josep-Ignasi Saranyanamember of the Pontifical committee of Historical Sciences: "The Spanish Church before the Conquest and Colonization of America"; and José Ramón Villar with "The Church in Spain: postconciliar annotations".

"El regio board of trustees indiano" is the chapter written by Mercedes Galán, professor of History of Law, of the School de Derecho. Rafael García Pérezalso Senior Associate Professor of History of Law and researcher of the ICS, is the author of "El concordato de 1851".

Juan Fornés, Full Professor of Canon Law and Ecclesiastical Law at School of Canon Law, has written the chapter "The revision of the concordat through the agreements of 1976 and 1979".

Finally, "La Iglesia y la Economics: propiedades, ingresos y rentas" is the chapter by position de Agustín González EncisoFull Professor of Modern History at School of Philosophy y Letras.

"The Church in the History of Spain" is a volume of 1,477 pages, structured in six parts, some final reflections and 92 chapters. It offers a summarized and updated view of the history of the Church in Spain, which has become intertwined with the history of Spain itself. It is often difficult to understand one without the other. It ends with an encouraging plea: "it is time to recover the objective joy of faith and to discover the possibilities and responsibilities of a Spanish Church that (...) is at the head of Catholicism because of its contemplative, missionary, popular, welcoming and human rights dimension".
