The"Corpus Thomisticum" portal , the most complete edition of the works of St. Thomas Aquinas, has received 264,948 visits from 38 countries in one year. Its publisher, Enrique Alarcón, professor at the University of Navarra, stressed that the figures "testify to the current relevance and universal interest in the thought of this author".

The "Corpus Thomisticum", an international project directed by the University of Navarra, aims to make the main tools for the study of St. Thomas Aquinas freely available to researchers.

The portal includes 180 Thomistic writings, a bibliography with 6,000 references and numerous historical sources. According to Professor Alarcón, "the documents published so far are equivalent to some 33,000 printed pages. All in Latin, since this is the language in which Thomas Aquinas wrote, and which is known to all his researchers.

New edition of the 'Index Thomisticus

The new edition of the "Index Thomisticus", a sophisticated database on the work of this author by the Jesuit Roberto Busa, will soon be published on this portal . "With the new management system we are developing, it will be one of the most advanced technical instruments in the field of the Humanities, with unparalleled capabilities," commented Professor Alarcón. The digital edition of one of the main medieval manuscripts preserved in Spain, the Pamplona Codex Cabildo 51, will also be included, according to the University of Navarra professor.

Part of the project is funded by the multinational computer company IBM and the Government of Navarra, among others. The initiative has collaborating teams in Spain, Germany, USA and Italy and maintains links with more than thirty academic institutions around the world.
