The Institute of data Science data Artificial Intelligence (DATAI) at the University of Navarra held its 5th conference , a meeting consolidates this forum as reference letter venue reference letter the exchange knowledge artificial intelligence and data science.

The opening position were delivered position director Jesús López Fidalgo, who highlighted the sustained growth of these conference: “Reaching this fifth edition is no coincidence. It is the result a community that is growing, becoming more established, and committed to research , impactful research .”

During his remarks, López Fidalgo also highlighted the diversity of the participants, including six industrial PhD students in partnership BBVA and 31 students from the Master's Degree Big Data Science, three researchers from the NAIR Center, and the remaining participants from DATAI—including CORE MEMBERS associates—reflecting the institute’s interdisciplinary and applied nature.

The program is organized into four main thematic sections. The first workshop on computational methods for health and biomedicine, featuring presentations on artificial intelligence applied to programs of study , generative models, and biomarkers.

The second workshop model and method frameworks, accountability, validation, and algorithmic trust, as well as applications in industry, finance, and engineering. In this regard, the director DATAI placed special emphasis on the role of the AI manager: “Artificial intelligence must not only be powerful, but also reliable, explainable, and fair. This is one of the major challenges we face today and a shared responsibility.”

In addition, the sessions on liability, validation, and algorithmic trust, as well as applications in industry, finance, and engineering, have highlighted the current challenges of artificial intelligence in real-world contexts. These sessions addressed issues such as model explainability, fairness in AI systems, performance validation, and management , along with practical applications in sectors such as banking, engineering, and industry, highlighting the growing connection between development and applied impact.

He also highlighted the core topic role core topic doctoral students—and industrial doctoral students in particular—as a bridge between research and the real-world needs of the community: “They represent a way of conducting research in reality, where knowledge and the needs of the community advance hand in hand.”

The conference brought together more than 80 participants from various Schools institutions, including DATAI, CIMA, TECNUN, CEIT or the School of Science, as well as external collaborators, fostering an environment of exchange .

With this fifth edition, DATAI is reinforcing its commitment to creating meeting spaces meeting foster partnership, critical thinking, and the development data solutions data a real impact on society.
