The dean of the School of Education and PsychologyProfessor Concepción Naval, has been in charge of welcoming them and congratulating them on the beginning of a new stage for these thirty new students of the MUP.

The first words consisted of a reflection on the University in general, and on the University of Navarra in particular, and which had as goal, in the words of the dean herself, "help to think about the Education; in its social and civic responsibility at all levels of education". Professor Naval wanted to point out the importance of research and teaching carried out honestly, as well as the importance of having a critical spirit "that does not get stuck in laziness". "We must know how to think about our task from the perspective of the training of the student; a training that must be integral; that contemplates the intellectual training , as is logical, but taking into account the rest of the aspects that make up the person," she said.

The dean also emphasized the importance of always considering every human being according to the dignity that is due to him or her, and not as a means; "we must also learn to live freedom publicly, and learn to seek the common good".

After these words, Professor Naval made a brief review of the history of the University of Navarra, from its Founder, St. Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, through the birth of the different campus with its centers and Schools, until 2014, the year of the founding of the School of Education and Psychology, "the youngest of all, although the programs of study on Education in the University is more than 40 years old". In conclusion to this review, the dean wanted to point out that despite the smallness of the beginnings, everything can end up big.

In addition, Professor Naval wanted to highlight three features that characterize the University of Navarra and that have to do with its founding spirit: to be genuine: in the most classical sense, to form a corporation of teachers and students where both levels complement each other in search of the truth, since, "when we renounce the truth, we run the risk of falling into the dictatorship of the will". As a second trait, he stressed the desire to be a university open to society: not to live with its back turned to the concerns and needs of society, also joining forces with other universities and entities (at this point he made reference letter to the role of the association of Friends and the scholarships thanks to which many students can carry out their programs of study); and, thirdly, the Christian spirit and selfless service, "helping to convert the desire to know into knowing how to want to know how to want".

After the words of the dean, those responsible for Master's Degree and director of the same, Professor Angel Sobrino, have offered students a few more information sessions internship on methodology, schedules and tools to get the most out of their stay as students of the MUP.
