Jose Javier Quintana Rodríguez (Artajona, age 22), a student in the “ graduate ” program at Biochemistry financial aid at the University of Navarra (2026), has been one of 50 students in Spain selected in the first round of the Fundación Telefónica scholarship program. This scholarship is intended to fund programs of study from Master's Degree in various technological fields, which will allow him to take his first steps toward his future as a biomedical researcher .
Despite the intense competition, Quintana decided to try his luck. The “ scholarship,” which evaluates both the academic background and the “ staff ” of candidates and involves several selection phases, represents for him “pride and self-confidence,” as well as financial security. “Having gone through the process of winning such a competitive ‘ scholarship ’ gives me confidence in my future research ‘ degree program ,’ as well as the ability to apply for high-level projects and grants,” he says.
The opportunity to receive this financial aid has changed the way Master's Degree will approach the program. “I had considered the option of working a workshop reduced schedule at any employment on weekends or weekdays, which would have required me to juggle schedule and sacrifice hours of study and work experimentation,” he explains. However, the funding will allow him to devote all his time to the training and make the most of the experience. “This scholarship gives me the financial peace of mind to focus on this Master's Degree,” he says.
He now has the goal to pursue a career in biomedical research . Specifically, he is focusing on the field of neuroscience, with his work for his Bachelor’s degree Master's Degree centered on Parkinson’s disease. The six-month internship at laboratory offered by the Master's Degree will also allow him to become part of the work of a group for professional research . He hopes to link this training to a future thesis doctoral program in order to develop a degree program of research.
