Science Week at the University of Navarra will begin on November 7. For seven days, it will be possible to visit the research center Applied Medicine (CIMA) and the Museum of Natural Sciences, in addition to participating in workshops in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and attend to a lecture series. Schools from Navarre and other neighboring autonomous communities will participate in the event, which is aimed at the general public.
The first discussion paper will take place at position by Professors Julio Artieda and José Ramón Isasi who will deal with"The 2014 Nobel Prizes explained" (Medicine and Chemistry). The following Monday will be the turn of Professor Enrique Baquero, director of the Master's Degree of Biodiversity, management of Landscapes and Environment of the University of Navarra with "Responsabilidad ciudadana frente al Medio Ambiente"; followed by Ana Rouzaut with"Inmunoterapia: domando el cáncer" and "Evolución: ¿qué pasa con nuestras vidas?" by Gregorio Sánchez. Finally, it will be the turn of Full Professor Ignacio López-Goñi and María Ángeles Zulet who will speak on"Ebola, why do new viral infections arise?" and"Obesity and research in nutrition: a priority tandem for Public Health", respectively.
As highlighted by the director of development of the School, Borja Mora-Figueroa, "the Science Week is an opportunity to make known to the Navarrese society and in general the activity that is carried out in the School of Sciences, in addition to getting into the scientific field". "We believe it is a great opportunity to bring science closer to people of all ages and also to know what their concerns are in this regard."
The event, which last year gathered 900 people, will end on Saturday 15 with an Open Doors and Science Experimentation workshop for students.
