The University, second in Spain in cancer treatment

The "U.S. News&World Report" ranking places the academic center among the 80 most relevant institutions worldwide in research and cancer treatment.

The University of Navarra, with the Clínica Universidad de Navarra as an academic hospital, is the second most recognized institution in Spain in terms of addressing the causes, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. This has been determined by the annual ranking of Clarivate Analytics for the magazine "U.S. News&World Report", which includes within the top 250 only four Spanish centers: the University of Barcelona (in 35th place), the University of Navarra (80th place), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (122nd) and the University of Salamanca (249th). The field of study includes advances in specialties such as gynecologic oncology, neuro-oncology, surgical oncology, oncologic radiology, oral oncology and oncologic dermatology, among others.

This year, report analyzes the top 1,500 educational institutions in 81 countries, compared to 75 countries last year. It takes into account indicators such as the national and international reputation of the research, the issue total of impact scientific publications, the partnership international in scientific projects or the issue of articles that are within the top 1% of the most cited in its area of research. In this way, the Best Global Universities ranking focuses specifically on academic research and reputation.

Proton therapy unit

Along these lines, Clínica Universidad de Navarra is building what will be the most advanced Proton Therapy Unit in Europe at campus in Madrid, which will be a strategic structure within the Cancer Center. The new Unit, which will begin to treat patients in the first quarter of 2020, has a technology present in 27 academic centers, including international references in cancer treatment.
