La Facultad de Derecho Canónico organiza un seminario para profesores sobre ‘La Santa Sede y el Proceso de Bolonia’
The School of Canon Law organizes a seminar for teachers on 'The Holy See and the Bologna Process'.
The Dean, Jorge Miras, affirmed that the most important change B for the ecclesiastical degrees will be the assessment of quality.
The School of Canon Law of the University of Navarra held a seminar for professors on 'The Holy See and the Bologna Process'. In the activity, moderated by the Academic Secretary of the Ecclesiastical Schools , Eduardo Flandes, participated the Dean of the School of Theology, Juan Chapa, and the Dean of the School of Canon Law, Jorge Miras.
The seminar has as its antecedent the congress organized in Rome by the Congregation for Catholic Education on October 21, 22 and 23, 2010, which was attended by some 300 people, deans and directors of the European ecclesiastical Schools . Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski, Monsignor Jean-Louis Brugués, Monsignor Vicenzo Zani, Dr. Germanin Dondelinger and Dr. Riccardo Cinquegrani, among others, participated. The University of Navarra was represented by Juan Chapa, Jorge Miras and Eduardo Flandes.
Education During his intervention at the seminar, Eduardo Flandes reviewed the contents of the 7 circular letters sent by the Holy See at reference letter to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that the Ecclesiastical Schools have received. In them, topics such as the creation of the Commission for the Study of the Bologna Process, the supplement to the degree scroll (document that will be submission to the graduates of the new study plans), the new credit system, the creation of internal commissions of self-assessment in each center, and the foundation and functions of the AVEPRO (Agency of the Holy See for the assessment and the Promotion of the Quality of the Ecclesiastical Universities and Schools ), among others, have been dealt with.
Internal and external evaluations
For his part, Juan Chapa reviewed the main conclusions of Bishop Grocholewski at the congress in Rome: "The Cardinal stressed that if the Holy See had not taken part in Bologna, the Schools of programs of study ecclesiastics would have remained on the margins of the teaching higher in Europe, which would have result been especially serious for those of a state character. Moreover, the full dignity of these programs of study is thus recognized and the Holy See can be present in international organizations and have a voice in the university teaching ".
He also stressed that, according to Cardinal Grocholewski, "the multidisciplinarity with other scientific disciplines is facilitated, which makes possible the dialogue between faith and reason". He also added that the Holy See has taken the EHEA as a guarantee of quality, for which it has created the AVEPRO.
Finally, Jorge Miras spoke, affirming that "the most relevant thing is to be present in the Process and to assume the formal criticisms that allow the connectivity of the ecclesiastical programs of study ". For the Dean of the School of Canon Law, "the most B change will result in the assessment of quality, which will require that in each School there is a permanent organism dedicated to that end".
Prof. Miras said that in addition to internal evaluations, each center will also have external evaluations. These will be carried out in situ by professors from other Schools and universities, chosen, designated and trained by agents of the Vatican quality agency. In the Ecclesiastical Schools of campus the document registration will be provided to teachers and researchers who wish to collaborate with AVEPRO as external evaluators.
