The winners were Imanol Merino, Elisabeth Bercianos, Antonio José Rullán, Daniel Tomás Crespo and Miguel Vargas.
The VII International Oncology International congress for Students of the University of Navarra closed with the submission of the awards for the best oral communications and the best poster prepared by the students.
The winners of the best oral communication, according to the scientific committee of congress, were Imanol Merino Narro and Elisabeth Bercianos Blanco, 5th year medical students of the University of Navarra, with the communication entitled "Defining the limits of glioblastoma multiforme". In the category of oral communication assessed by the organizing committee , the winner was Antonio José Rullán Iriarte, student also a 6th year medical student at the University of Navarra, with the analysis "Palifermin reduces the incidence and severity of oral mucositis in patients undergoing progenitor cell transplantation".
For its part, the award to the best work in the category of best poster - "Antiproliferative effect of receptor tyrosine kinases in melanoma"- went to Daniel Tomás Crespo Belenguer and Miguel Vargas Rodríguez, from the 3rd year of Pharmacy at the University of Valencia.
In total, more than 250 students participated in the seventh edition of meeting, the only one in Spain organized by and for students. During the course of the event, some twenty experts analyzed issues related to "Cancer and society" -this year's chosen theme-, such as the influence of the disease on our society, institutional support for patients and their families, the role of cancer patients' associations, etc.
