Fifth-year Architecture students to design a visitor center in Jerusalem
The University and the Technion University participate in a joint project
The fifth year students of the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra will participate during the first semester of this academic year in a project that will be carried out in conjunction with the Israeli Technion University. The goal is to design a visitor center in the vicinity of the Temple Mount or Esplanade of the Mosques in Jerusalem.
According to Alona Nitzan-Shiftan, director of the Degree in Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning of Technion, the points of view of the two schools "will enrich" the project since "the different perceptions on security concepts, land or the partner-cultural context will allow mutual learning, a very complete integration".
Nitzan-Shiftan presented the project to the School's students, and was joined by architect and Technion University professor Gaby Schwartz. "It is important to discuss with international professionals, because this allows us to get to know cities, symbolisms and people not only from the inside, but also from the outside," said Schwartz, who gave a lecture at the classroom Magna on Israeli architecture and presented some of his projects, designs of found and dynamic spaces.
