Sonia Fernández (Pharmacy '17) is a student of the Master's Degree in design Galenic and Manufacturing in the Pharmaceutical Industry of the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition of the University of Navarra and is currently doing a paid internship in the department of Quality Control of Baxter Laboratories.

How do you value this work experience offered by Master's Degree?
My time at Baxter has been very enriching. From the beginning I have felt integrated in the business and at all times they have provided me with facilities for my learning.

What tasks did you perform?
During my first month of internship I started rotating through the different quality Departments of Baxter, there I was able to apply the theoretical knowledge learned during the Master's Degree internship and discover the role of the pharmacist in the world of the pharmaceutical industry. I was surprised to discover that business has professionals from all fields, forming a team multidisciplinary that manages to deal with the day-to-day obstacles to move forward with the pharmaceutical product they manufacture: numerous intravenous formulations in Viaflo packaging.

And now, what does your work consist of?
After getting to know the plant in a general way, I was given the opportunity to do my internship at department Validations, where I am currently doing a validation project . At Master's Degree we have acquired theoretical concepts about validations, but having the opportunity to perform one myself is providing me with a lot of knowledge and is giving me the opportunity to acquire skills and develop professionally. In addition, some time of my workshop internship is dedicated to perform tasks in the department of Quality Systems, where I am putting in internship Quality Assurance concepts acquired during the Master's Degree.

Do you think this internship will help you define your future career?
Having the opportunity to be in two Departments seems to me a good way to help me realize what I really like the most and what I will want to do from now on. Thanks to this internship at Baxter I am sure that I will get a very complete professional training and, in addition, I am taking with me a very gratifying experience staff , since the companionship and the good atmosphere of work are making the stay go by very quickly.
