Seven decades have passed since Antonio Fontán wrote the first page of Nuestro Tiempo magazine in July 1954. He left then the mark that today is the indelible motto of the magazine: "Nuestro Tiempo aspires to be a magazine that gathers the heartbeat of contemporary life, that report and guides about the facts, ideas and men that define our time, constitute the present and are creating the world of tomorrow".

The magazine of the alumni of the University of Navarra celebrated its 70th anniversary. The event took place at School of Communication and was coordinated by the essay team and group of students from the publication's School of Journalism. It was attended by many of the publication's former editors and numerous collaborators.

Teodoro Peñarroja, director of the magazine, expressed his gratitude to all those who make it possible for Nuestro Tiempo to continue celebrating its anniversary: "Thanks to the editors who have preceded me, to the members of committee publishing house , to tonight's speakers, to the student collaborators, to the journalists, reporters, columnists, critics, teachers, essayists, disseminators, photographers, illustrators, designers". He also left a special place for the readers, the main figure and sense of being of any media. He compared them to Dulcinea, that quixotic figure, because "editing a cultural magazine is a bit like writing love letters. It is an art in disuse, but there are still those who practice it," he said.

After this first intervention, a roundtable was held with the intervention of Ander Izagirre, journalist and writer, and Paco Sanchez, professor and columnist, moderated by Professor Beatriz Gomez. The colloquium focused on journalistic official document , and analyzed slow journalism and fast journalism. Sanchez explained how the two complement each other: "To do fast journalism well, you have to have practiced slow journalism a lot," he said. Then Izagirre put his own freelance reporter's work as reference letter. He said that long, in-depth stories allow one to "look at the sides and have more freedom to choose who is going to be the protagonist". They also related the topic of the talk to the idea of 'cultural ecosystems', closely linked to the relationship between audiences and narrative scenarios.

A collection of books on major topics, web redesign and a podcast of its own

During the event, Nuestro Tiempo announced the release of a collection of books on major themes of the magazine. Edited by EUNSA , it will publish extended versions of some of the essays chosen by essay. The first, Nadie habla, by Felipe Muller -which expands on the homonymous essay of 718-, is already available at available on the website publishing house. In addition to this novelty, there are two new additions: Nuestro Tiempo is preparing to launch soon a new design on its website and, in order to explore other narrative formats, a podcast of its own.
