Building Trust in Education : topic of the Course on University Reputation Management

The event brought together about 100 representatives from 60 institutions and 20 countries at the postgraduate program headquarters in Madrid

The University of Navarra brought together 96 professionals from 60 institutions and 20 countries at its campus for the Executive Course in University Reputation Management. The initiative brought together vice-rectors and university administrators to discuss how to integrate reputation into the strategy, governance, and relationships with various stakeholders of Education institutions.

The course, organized by the Center for University Governance and Reputation, in partnership the School of Communication and Universia’s MetaRednetwork universitynetwork , is a degree scroll , in-person, bilingual degree scroll taught in Spanish and English. Its purpose is to provide a work framework work integrating reputation into strategy, governance, communication, and universities’ relationships with their various stakeholders.

Mónica Herrero, Vice President Communication and co-director of the program, stated that "university reputation is a strategic asset that ensures the institution’s future sustainability." In her view, reputation is the result how the university manages to maintain coherence between "identity, governance, institutional behavior, and relations with the public. " For his part, Santiago Fernández-Gubieda, director the Reputation Unit and also a co-director, stated that the course aims to foster academic reflection within the global university sector on the intangible value of reputation and how that reflection financial aid improve internship : “It is a space work universities work think about reputation from the perspective of governance strategy and not just from the management image.” 

Reputation as a category of governance

At a time when trust in universities is being called into question from many quarters, the University of Navarra’s Course in University Reputation Management aims to rebuild that trust through a deep understanding of the university’s identity, its relationship with its stakeholders, and its contribution to the common good. "Reputation must be approached as a category of governance: it requires listening, transparency, leadership judgment, and a clear connection between what the institution is, what it does, and what it communicates, " stated Santiago Fernández-Gubieda.

Over the course of three conference, the program combined academic sessions, case studies, thematic workshops, collaborative activities, and group-based work . The faculty consisted of academics and professionals from universities and international institutions. Participants included Paul Andrew, Vice President Communications and Public Affairs at Harvard University; Rachel Sandison, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for External Engagement at the University of Glasgow; Michele Acuto, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Vice President Global Engagement at the University of Bristol; as well as five professors from the University of Navarra.

The Center for University Governance and Reputation began its work in 2015 with the first congress Universities’ Reputation" congress . Since then, it has carried out training, research partnership activities partnership universities in various countries on topics related to governance, communication, and the management intangible assets in Education institutions. Its activities include conferences, seminars, publications, research projects research partnership networks partnership national and international academic institutions.
