A volume has just been published in the collection 'Letras Hispánicas' of publishing house Chair a volume that collects the complete Theater of Francisco de Quevedo, edited by Ignacio Arellano and Celsa Carmen García Valdés, director and researcher of the group de research Siglo de Oro (GRISO) of the University of Navarra. Although Quevedo did not dedicate himself professionally to theater, he did not escape the fascination of the stage that was experienced in his time. He wrote his plays over a period of several years -1613 to 1631, approximately- during which some of his most famous works, El buscón and Los sueños, were made known, after which his dramatic work had been relegated to the background.

His most famous comedy, Cómo ha de ser el privado, is a piece of political propaganda aimed at exalting the perfect valido embodied by the Count-Duke of Olivares. This edition also includes thirteen of his entremeses, loas and dances, as well as a preserved fragment of the comedy Pero Vázquez de Escamilla. The edition of all these works is accompanied by the corresponding dramatic-literary study and a complete annotation.

Line of research on Quevedo.

This edition of Quevedo's Complete Theater is part of a broader project , developed by the GRISO, which has as goal the study and edition of Quevedo's complete works, with special attention to his Poetic Works. In addition, the GRISO publishes annually La Perinola, a magazine of research dedicated exclusively to Quevedo. The last issue published (the 14th, corresponding to 2010) is a monograph coordinated by Julián Olivares, dedicated to the celebrated Quevedoist James O. Crosby and with 'Quevedo and American criticism' as the main topic . La Perinola also has a series of annexed issues (21 to date) that bring together various Quevedo publications and editions programs of study .
