The University of Navarra takes the top spot at the Spanish University Weightlifting Championships

Elena Habans, a marketing student and member of Sports Talent Program, wins the 58 kg category and now sets her sights on the World Championships in Egypt.

The University of Navarra has climbed to the top of the podium at the Spanish University Weightlifting Championships (CEU) recently held in Andalusia. Elena Habans, a Degree student, has been proclaimed Spanish champion in the 58 kg category, establishing herself as one of the strongest contenders on the national scene.

After a competition marked by her technical superiority, Habans not only won the university gold medal, but just 24 hours later she achieved the second-best score in the Spanish Cup. For the athlete, success lies in mental preparation: "I was calm because it was a weight I normally lift, but it's always important to maintain perfect technique and stay focused," says the champion.


The challenge the "double degree program

Habans' triumph highlights the success of the Sports Talent Program at the University of Navarra, designed to high performing athletes high performing combine their programs of study elite competition. The athlete combines three hours of daily training with her classes, her work a CrossFit coach, and her studies.

"It's all about priorities," says Habans when asked about management . "Even in high school diploma to training at 6:30 in the morning because I didn't have any other time. If you want to, you can." In this regard, she emphasizes that institutional support is core topic: "Feeling that the university understands that my degree program is as serious as my academic program takes a huge amount of pressure off."


Heading to the World Cup in Egypt

With no time to rest, the athlete has already begun her preparation for the next big international challenge. Next June, Elena Habans will represent the University and Spain at the World Championships in Egypt.

The athlete wanted to thank the University of Navarra and Caja Rural for their support in facilitating her participation in these championships and promoting high-level university sports.
