The Holy See has appointed Anastasio Gil García, doctorate from the School of Theology of the University of Navarra, as national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) for the period 2011-2016. position Francisco Pérez González, Archbishop of Pamplona and Bishop of Tudela, who has been at the head of the Pontifical Mission Societies since 2001.
The new national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Anastasio Gil, was born in Veganzones (Segovia) on January 11, 1946. He is a priest of the diocese of Madrid and was ordained in 1970. He is graduate in Theology from the Pontifical University of Comillas, Doctor in Theology from the University of Navarra and diploma holder in Educational Psychology.
In the Spanish Episcopal lecture he has occupied the position of Deputy Director of the National Secretariat of catechesis between 1988 and 1999. Currently, since 1999, he has been director of the Secretariat of the Episcopal Commission for Missions and Cooperation among the Churches. Since 2001 he has also been National Deputy Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies.
