The Parliament of Navarre and the University of Navarre, through classroom of Parliamentary Law and the Civic Parliament, present What is the Parliament for you?, a video contest aimed at students of high school diploma of schools and institutes of Navarra. The initiative has as goal promote culture and civic values among young people.

For Concepción Naval, Vice President of the University of Navarra and director of Parlamento Cívico, "it is essential to generate interest in democratic institutions; knowing and transmitting their values and promote participation in them is essential for the proper functioning of a democracy".

Regarding the dimension of the contest, the president of the Parliament of Navarra, Alberto Catalán, considers that "new technologies and audiovisual formats are tools in which young people are well handled and with which they can contribute in a didactic way to bring the parliamentary institution closer to an important part of the population, such as the students themselves".

In the competition can participate students who in the academic year 2012/2013 are studying First or Second of high school diploma. In groups of three or four, under the guidance of a teacher, the candidates will have to elaborate a video of up to four minutes in which they explain the meaning that the parliamentary institution has for them.

Videos must be submitted between September 15 and October 30, 2012. The jury, composed of a representative of the Parliament of Navarra, another from the University of Navarra and a third professional of recognized prestige designated by the academic institution, will meet and decide in December. In its evaluation will take into account the message, the script and the technical quality of the video.

The submission awards ceremony will be held in late January 2013 at the Parliament of Navarra. It will recognize the work of the winning group with an iPod Touch for each student on the team. The most viewed video will also receive award: an iPod Shuffle for the students. In both cases, the school will receive a 'semi-professional' digital video camera.

In the next few weeks, all the institutes and schools in Navarra that teach high school diploma will receive an invitation signed by the President of the Parliament, Alberto Catalán, and the President of the University of Navarra, Ángel J.
