Gerard Vidal studied Engineering at TECNUN and later did the doctorate at the department of Physics of the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra.

Vidal directs together with other colleagues from degree program the business Enigmedia, a start up dedicated to computer security. With effort and determination they have managed to place this new company among the most important in the sector, achieving recognition within and outside our national borders. Between international fairs and media interviews, Gerard Vidal takes a break to remember his time at researcher.
Q: What was the degree scroll of your thesis and who directed it?
A: "Synchronization and control of nonlinear systems in space-time chaos regime". My director was Hector Mancini. A man 10. I did the doctorate for him and I got it right. He is a master and as a person I can't even tell you.... I owe a lot to my director, not only for his academic guide , but also because he has made me grow as a person. And he still does!
Q: To what extent do you think that core topic has been your doctorate in the work that you are doing today?
A: It has been fundamental. The work of my thesis gave me the basic knowledge on which business is based. The contacts, the ability to synthesize... there are a lot of skills and abilities that I have learned and developed in my doctorate.
Q: Now that you are fully involved in the professional field, how do you value the work of research that is carried out at School?
A: The University of Navarra is a leader in Spain. When I was doing the doctorate I didn't see it, I didn't know what it meant. I did not value it. They are very good in physics. They have an enormous level of publications and all my classmates and professors were great. They were also very patient with me. I am grateful to all of them.
Q: Anything to improve?
A: To make this recognition reach much further. The goal that is set, to train people in an integral way, is good enough to have a stronger international projection.
Q: Finally, a committee for the students who are doing the doctorate?
A: That they take advantage of every moment. The important thing is to be happy and the rest is history.
