Mariano González Presencio, professor at School of Architecture of the University of Navarra, has been elected president of the Navarra delegation of the high school Oficial de Arquitectos Vasco Navarro (COAVN).
Born in Bilbao in 1957, Mariano González graduated from School of Architecture at the University of Navarra in 1981 and in 1985 he received his PhD with award Extraordinary. Since then he has developed his work professor and research in the Departments of Projects and Theory and History of Architecture. He has also worked at the School as Deputy Director and as director (2009-2012).
In 1990 he won by civil service examination a place of Senior Associate Professor of Analysis of Architectural Forms in the School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, where he taught until the academic year 1998-99.
Throughout his academic career, Mariano González Presencio has directed several doctoral thesis and has participated in works of research, the results of which have been disseminated in journals and collective works of scope. He has published articles in national and international journals and has been recognized by the National Agency of accreditation with two six-year periods of research.
Numerous awards as an architect
His work as an architect has received numerous awards, including the European Sports Architecture award (1999) or several mentions in the COAVN Awards and the Spanish Architecture Biennials. He has also won several first prizes in open project competitions, such as the construction of the new Parliament of Navarra and those corresponding to the sports centers of Estella and Olazagutía and the Santacara Town Hall, in addition to other prizes and mentions. A good part of his architectural work has deserved the attention of different specialized publications.
The newly constituted board COAVNA board of directors has a new secretary, Michel Arauzo Muñoz, replacing Carlos Pereda Iglesias, and a new treasurer, Miguel Ángel Díaz Iturriaga, replacing Jesús Leache Resano.
Likewise, architects Javier Torrens Alzu, Koldo Fernández Gaztelu and Sara Velázquez Arizmendi have been appointed as members. The board is completed with the members Luis Tena Nuñez, Edurne Ramírez Elcano and Maier Velez Olabarria, who already held these positions.
