"Libya's political evolution is difficult to foresee and far from stabilized."
Francisco J. Ruiz González, from the Spanish high school of programs of study Estratégicos, intervened in the conference of Security and Defense of the University of Navarra.
"The political evolution of Libya is difficult to foresee, however, it is very important to maintain Western support for the new authorities so that the radical elements cannot capitalize on the success of the regime change". This was emphasized by Francisco J. Ruiz González, analyst at high school Español de programs of study Estratégicos, during his intervention at the conference Security and Defense organized by the University of Navarra.
According to the expert, status in the Arab country is far from being stabilized. "Fighting continues in the last bastions of Gaddafist resistance, which is why NATO has decided to continue its military operations in the area."
Relations with Russia and withdrawal from Afghanistan
Francisco J. Ruiz González also referred to the European Union's relations with Russia. "During Medvedev's presidency the relationship has progressed. In fact, in 2010 the 'association EU-Russia for Modernization' was signed, which sets the instructions for a deeper relationship in the economic field".
Finally, on the possible withdrawal from Afghanistan, he explained that rather than a withdrawal, it is a "progressive withdrawal". "It is not a question of dates, but of objectives, the withdrawal will be completed as the establishment of a viable state in the hands of the Afghans themselves and that does not pose a threat to the international community is achieved". As he explained, "the international commitment to Afghanistan is long-term deadline and does not have a deadline".
