"Airbus challenges you to leave the managers of its different areas of workwith your mouth open," said group aerospace in its launch of 'Be Digital Challenge', and the team of Javier Rodríguez Lombardo, student of the Master's Degree in Big Data Science of the University of Navarra, did just that: it left Airbus executives open-mouthed.

Be Digital Challenge' was a challenge from the starting point, because, as Javier Rodríguez points out, "part of the difficulty lay in the scarce information we were given in advance. We knew neither the structure nor the subject of database that we were going to use".

More than two hundred people from the world of computer science, development software, robotics, data analysis, mathematics, statistics, telecommunications or programming were confronted with what they had: with their experience, with their training, with their talent, and 36 were selected to be put on test.

Among them was Javier Rodríguez, who was informed that the participants would start divided according to their specialization program (Data analytics, IOT and Robotics, and New technologies and experience of Username), although they would end up competing "all against all in the final pitch".

On that point, he assures, the lessons of Master's Degree, which is coordinated by the Science Unit of data of Institute for Culture and Society, "turned out to be the best training, because at all times I felt prepared thanks to the knowledge acquired during the first months of the course".

During the challenge, he explains, "the work team factor was present, as we were grouped into teams of three people and had to cooperate with the other two colleagues to move forward". Javier says that it was crucial to "quickly manage and understand the database, starting from the problem we had set ourselves, and todevelop a creative solution to the problem through a business model that was efficient and, above all, profitable".

The clock ticked on workshop: first during the work analysis and development of the business model , then at exhibition in front of the jury. "In just three minutes we had to present the project in front of a demanding jury of Airbus managers," he recalls. But not only did they have to present it, they also had to leave them open-mouthed.

"The twelve teams made a brilliant work and showed a resolute and very futuristic vision, maintaining the level and the excitement of victory until the end -underlines Javier Rodriguez-. The tension was maintained until the last moment, because they left the advertisement of the winners of the first award for the end. It was then when our name came out, "Fly & Go", and my two partners and I went on stage to receive the award".

Javier Rodríguez Lombardo says that the possibility of "working with such fantastic teammates, exchanging experiences with the other contestants and having the opportunity to learn directly from Airbus mentors was an incredible experience".
